Busy Weekend For Team Velocause Racing Indoors and Outdoors!

Saturday, March 17th 2012. Crankdaddy’s Bicycle shop.  Milwaukee, WI

Team Velocause races to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Despite the warm weather, Team Velocause was racing indoor Saturday at the 5th annual Crankdaddy’s indoor time trial. Andy Feuersthaler, Chris Zugel, Ryan White, and Scott Mullins comprised the 4 man team.  The team finished 4th, but more importantly raised money for a great cause.

Sunday, March 18th 2012.  ABR Pleasant Prairie Spring Criterium #2.  Pleasant Prairie, WI

Team lead out lands Zugel on the podium.

Masters 30 +
Ryan White, Andy Feuersthaler, Michael Cudahy, Chris Zugel, and State Time Trial Champion Tom Felton lined up for the race. Having Felton in the race changed the team’s strategy due to his strength’s. The plan was to attack early and often, and that is exactly what the team did. Andy and Tom were on the front as Zugel and White were on the move. Ryan, Andy, Chris, and Tom were all in breaks, but they could not stay away due to the 20+mph tail wind on the back straight. With 2 laps to go Feuersthaler gave the team their lead out orders. Down the back straight Tom Felton does what he does, and that is, stretch the entire field with a huge pull. Feuersthaler took the lead from turn 3 through the last turn. Ryan White lead it up the hill, and Zugel took the sprint to the line. Chris was beat by inches at the last second to finish 2nd.
Masters 40 +
Pulling double duty on the day, were Tom Felton (who also raced 30+) and Randy Scoville (who just minutes before raced in the 50+ race). They were also joined by Team Velocause racer Mike Froh. Tom was in 3 different breaks that looked to be enough to stay away, but in the end it was a group sprint. A very close finish saw Mike Froh cross the line in 6th, bike lengths away from a podium.
Masters 50 +
Tour of America’s Dairyland overall champion Randy Scoville was our lone entry in this race. Randy brought back 2 breaks with solo efforts right into the front straight head wind. In the end it was a sprint finish, that earned Randy another top 5, crossing g the line 4th.
